A new Netflix horror film is so terrifying that viewers can’t watch it to the end without feeling sick – and some are worried they have actually invoked evil spirits.
The Taiwanese film “Incantation” has been exploding on social media since its premiere at film festivals last year and is now available on Netflix.
Originally titled “Zhou” in Chinese, the found footage horror follows a woman named Li Ronan, who instructs viewers to memorize a supernatural symbol and chant along with an incantation to lift a curse placed on her six-year-old daughter.
The curse arose after Li broke an important religious taboo, and she is forced to face the consequences in the terrifying film.
From scenes of human sacrifice to horrifying demonic possessions, the film stars Tsai Hseuan-yen as the main character Li – and has quickly become the highest-grossing Taiwanese horror film of all time.
Twitter users warned that the film features a “real-life” incantation to help summon the devil – which has left fans shaken.
One social media user wrote: “Anyone watch Incantation on Netflix? They say it opens a portal to evil spirits. Do with that information what you will!”
Another wrote: “Do not watch Incantation on Netflix, it has a genuine ancient incantation to summon the devil!”
Others agreed with their own thoughts on the terrifying film, with one fan writing: “I’m pretty sure Incantation on Netflix is the first horror movie in about 30 years to scare the s**t out of me.”
